Crafting Narrative

Crafting Narrative 2014

Developed as a touring exhibition for the Crafts Council, UK this exhibition included a number of stories in the form of newly commissioned works and objects from the Crafts Council Collection. When these otherwise unconnected works are placed next to each other they present a new story that highlights how both objects and systems of making can create effective and engaging narrative forms.

The practitioners in Crafting Narrative explore storytelling in compelling and complex ways. By pushing the narrative potential of design and craft practice, they challenge us to reflect upon objects and processes of production in the context of themes as diverse as history, contemporary culture, society and technology.

Featuring works by Åbäke, AugerLoizeau, Carl Clerkin, Martino Gamper, El Ultimo Grito, Zhenhan Hao, Hilda Hellström, Hefin Jones, Onkar Kular, Noam Toran and Dawn Youll with new commissions by Cecilie Gravesen and Dash Macdonald
